I just finished the frustratingly good book by Noam Chomsky "Hegemony or Survival". Chomsky is brilliant and his attention to historical detail allows for a blinding look at American foreign policy since post World War II. After finishing this, I actually believe that the world would be a better place if Washington (Chomsky's definition) realized they do not need to dominate the world with such armed force.

One the better books that I have read recently is Michael Pollan's "In Defense of Food". His analysis of our current state of ill health in North America is so poignant and illuminating; and he focuses on our biggest problem: convenience. We've lost any sort of cultural heritage from our recent ancestors regarding food, and it has caused much suffering and diseases that are now plaguing our children. Did you know that it is said the children of now are the first that may not live out their parents? It's a great read (journalists know how to write), and I highly recommend this read: it may just save your life!
